One Year Anniversary!

One year ago today, Carey and I celebrated a very special day with God, our family and friends, and other members of our church. One year ago today, Abigail was baptized at St. Anthony of Padua Church. One year ago today, Carey and I vowed to do everything in our power to raise Abigail to love and serve the Lord by teaching her, guiding her, and providing a good example for her. One year ago today, Abby's Aunt Anne and Uncle Jon agreed to be her godparents, vowing to support us on our journey.

Today, we again celebrate the baptism of our little girl. We remember the vows we made on that day, and we renew our promise to raise her as Christ's child first and our child second. We say the prayer that we say over Abigail every night before we put her to sleep:

Dear Lord, we thank you for the many blessings that you have given to us. We thank you especially for the gift of our beautiful baby girl, Abigail Elizabeth. We pray that she will continue to grow happy and healthy and strong and loved in your care, and we thank you for entrusting her to our care here on earth. We pray that you will grant us wisdom and patience and compassion as we strive to raise Abigail to be someone who loves you first and foremost and who witnesses that love in everything she does. Amen.
