The News Was Not Good...

We took Abby back to the doctor's this morning to follow-up her appointment from Friday. Since Friday, we have been using Abby's nebulizer every three hours, continuing her antibiotics, and monitoring her temperature and giving her Motrin only when necessary.

Luckily, Abby was fever-free this weekend, so we didn't have to give her any Motrin. We continued to give her antibiotics twice a day, and she was nebulized every three hours while she was awake. (The doctor told us that we didn't need to wake her up at night to use the nebulizer unless she was wheezing badly. Luckily, she wasn't.) Aside from a few rough patches, Abby seemed to do pretty well this weekend. So, we were hopeful that we'd get good news when we went to the doctor this morning.

Unfortunately, that was not the case. Dr. Meltzer took one look in Abby ears and said that her ear infections were still present and, while they weren't "severe" (which is how they were described to us on Wednesday), they were still pretty bad. In fact, Abby had woken up at 4:00 am on Sunday morning with a fever of 101.4. Dr. Meltzer said that the fever could have easily been caused by the ear infections. She didn't want to switch our antibiotics, so she told us to continue on with our current treatment and to come back to the office on Tuesday.

Well, Abby had a rough day today. She was very unhappy and had periods of inconsolable crying. So, instead of waiting until Tuesday, Abby and I will be at the doctor's office for walk-in hours tomorrow morning. Please continue to lift our little girl up in your prayers!
