5-Month Check-Up

Well, we're just shy of 5 months old (holy cow!!!), and we had our 5-month check-up yesterday. In addition to being a well-child visit, it was a chance for the doctor to look at Abby's ears to make sure that her ear infections are clearing up.

Little munchkin had a clean bill of health yesterday. She is up to 14 pounds, 11 ounces (50th percentile) and 25.5 inches long (75th percentile), and her head and chest circumferences are within normal limits. The doctors are happy with Abby's development.

Dr. Meltzer gave us the go-ahead to start Abby on cereals. We know that she can tolerate rice cereal, because we've been adding it to her bottle for months now. So, we're going to start with that, then move on to oatmeal and then barley. At our next visit (March 2nd), Dr. Meltzer said we'll see how Abby is doing and then decide what fruits and vegetables to start. Carey and I have to clean Abby's booster seat and get it set-up at the dining room table. Our first foray into cereal will be this weekend. (I'll be sure to take lots of pictures!!)

Abby had two vaccinations yesterday, one oral and one shot. She did great at the doctors office, but had a rough afternoon (according to Carey). Once he got her down for her afternoon nap, she was fine. And, when I got home last night, she was great.

So, the doctor confirmed what Carey and I already knew: Abby is growing up very quickly! We are so blessed to have this beautiful, healthy, happy little girl in our lives! :-)
