Carey and I had called the doctor because, while we upstate at my mom's house, Abby was spitting up quite a bit. More to the point, she seemed very uncomfortable right before, during, and after these spit-ups. We had a well-child visit scheduled for January 2nd, but the office was able to move the appointment up a week. So, in we went the day after we got back to Long Island.
Can I tell you what Dr. Cohen said? He said that Abby is doing great. (Big smiles from mommy and daddy at this news!!) She is up to 13 pounds, 2 ounces (50th - 75th percentile) and 25 inches (75th - 90th percentile). She is reaching her developmental milestones, and she couldn't stop smiling at Dr. Cohen while we were there. (I think Abby is starting to like deeper voices now, because she's always following Carey's voice, and Dr. Cohen also has a deep voice.) So, Dr. Cohen said she is doing wonderful. Abby actually had one of her little spit-up fits while Dr. Cohen was there, and he said that it's pretty normal for babies to spit-up that amount and that often. He said she might be a bit more likely to spit-up because of her reflux issues, and it seems that her little body is trying to get rid of some of the mucus that built up due to the reflux and her milk allergy.
So, Dr. Cohen said that as long as Abby continues to grow and develop, we shouldn't worry too much about her spitting up. Carey and I have invested in additional bibs and burp cloths, and we're getting used to the idea that we'll probably be covered in spit-up until Abby's digestive system develops a bit more. But, when the face is this cute, we don't really mind... :-)
