Carey, Abby, and I braved the snow to go to Abby's doctor's appointment this morning. The roads were pretty bad, but luckily there weren't many other people on the road, so we took our time and arrived with no problems.
The word that Dr. Meltzer used most today was "great." Abby's height and weight growth were "great." Her head and chest circumferences were "great." Her development, including rolling over, cooing, and grasping and passing objects from one hand to the other, were "great." Let me tell you, I love hearing that word! Abby is up to 15 pounds, 15 ounces (75th percentile) and 25.75 inches (75th-90th percentile). Dr. Meltzer was very happy with Abby's physical growth and her developmental growth.
We were given the go-ahead to start Abby on light-colored fruits and veggies. Because Abby has been a little constipated lately (probably due to the amount of rice cereal she's been eating), Dr. Meltzer suggested that we try prunes and pears first, as both of these fruits have a loosening effect on bowel movements. We're also going to be giving Abby more oatmeal and barley, rather than rice.
Abby did have one vaccination today, the second shot in her Prevnar sequence. A champ as always, Abby cried very briefly, but was smiling by the time we left the doctor's office. And now, she is napping in her car seat, all snuggled up in her teddy bear snowsuit. :-)
I hope that everyone enjoys the snow and stays safe today!
