Improvement?

Well, after a downturn yesterday afternoon, Abby seems to be doing a bit better.

For the first time since Sunday, Abby threw up yesterday. Carey had trouble getting her to eat yesterday afternoon, and what little she did take, she wouldn't keep down for very long. He called the doctor again, but Dr. Cohen said that as long as Abby was staying hydrated, we really needed to let this virus run its course. Thankfully, Abby did not have a fever and wasn't showing any other signs of illness or discomfort. When I got home last night, I was able to get Abby to eat half a jar of applesauce and two ounces of formula. She had only a little bit of diarrhea before bed, and she went to sleep around 9:00 pm.

At 6:20 this morning, I looked at the video monitor and saw her little face smiling at me! I went in to check on her: no diarrhea overnight! Hooray! (My excitement was tempered by the fact that she hadn't really kept much in her tummy yesterday, but I am trying to stay positive.) She drank a full 6-ounce bottle this morning and had only a minimal amount of spit-up afterwards. Not that I'm a doctor, but it seems that Abby's cold is starting to break up and she may be swallowing a lot of mucus. I honestly believe that Abby probably swallowed a good deal of mucus yesterday, which in turn caused her throw-up episodes. We're going to be extra vigilant with the aspirator for the next few days, and hopefully that will help.

And, the best news we've had in a few days: I just called Carey, and he told me that Abby had a solid-ish poopy this morning. Yippee!!! (You can tell you're a parent when you get a huge smile on your face because of a #2...) I pray that Abby will continue to feel better and that her little belly will sort itself out very soon!
