So, I realize it's been a few days since everyone was treated to an ABBY UPDATE! So much has been going on with our little girl, it's tough to know where to start. But, here goes...

Abby is a little roller now. She not only rolls back to belly (via her left side), she can roll over from her belly to her back and she's experimenting with rolling from back to belly via her right side. (She's done it once or twice, but sometimes she gets frustrated and just switches to the left side.)
Abby is also starting to make new sounds. On Saturday, she made a distinct "ga, ga" for the first time. She's also started pressing her lips together and making an "Mmmmm" sound. I hope that, since she can make that sound, she might say "ma ma" soon, but I get the feeling that "da da" will be the first words out of her mouth! :-)

Little munchkin is trying very hard to sit up on her own. We've been trying to get her to play in her Exersaucer and Bumbo more and more lately, and sitting her in her booster seat at the table while we're having dinner. I'm hoping that all these upright toys will help her develop the muscle strength and coordination needed for sitting up. Abby still loves spending time on her play mats, though. She'll hang around on her back, grabbing her toys and eating her toes. When she gets sick of that, she'll roll over onto her belly and hang out there for a while. Then, she'll either roll over onto her belly again or, if she's having trouble, she'll start whining and Carey or I will flip her back over.

Things are going well with solid foods. Abby is now eating barley. Luckily, she hasn't had a negative reaction to any of the cereals we've tried so far (rice, oatmeal, and barley), although she doesn't really seem to be a fan of oatmeal. We're up to two tablespoons per day, and even after she finishes those, she'll open and close her mouth in a "C'mon, I want more!" gesture. At our doctor's appointment next week, we'll work with the doctor to see what fruits and veggies Abby will get to eat.
Abigail's spit up problems are virtually non-existent now. (So many people told me that she'd outgrow it, but it can be so hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel sometimes...) She'll have the occasional bit of spit-up, but it's no more than normal and MUCH less than what we were experiencing around Christmas time. Our biggest issue right now is drool. Lots and lots of drool. We go through bibs like they're going out of style. But, I'll take drool over spit-up (and its accompanying discomfort) any day. (Plus, Abby will sometimes blow little bubbles or raspberries, and it's just too cute!!)

Aside from the occasional issue in the sleep department, Abby is doing well on that front. Her little body knows how much sleep she needs, so if she does have a rough night once in a while, she'll make up for it in naps during the day and will usually go to bed a bit earlier the next night. My mommy-radar still has me waking up a few times a night to check the video monitor, and I have had to get up and re-position her, but it usually doesn't wake her up.
So, that's Abby in a nutshell. She's doing great. Every day when I get home from work, she has a big toothless grin and an Abby hug for me. She just keeps getting cuter, and I keep falling more in love with her! :-)
