I love my mom. She is warm-hearted, smart, thoughtful, and funny. (Although, Kate and I joke that we didn't realize mom was so funny until after we moved out to go to college...)
Now that she is also a grandmother, I continue to be amazed by my mom. The fact that her heart keeps growing to give love to these two precious blessings that have joined our family is something that makes me feel blessed and humbled. She hasn't forgotten how to give the best baby cuddles (lucky Zach!). She has enough energy to chase Abby every time she tries to steal Grandma's rocking chair. She knows just what treats to send to make each kiddo feel special and loved. And she listens to every meandering four-year-old telephone conversation with patience and attention, and always manages to laugh at just the right time.

I remember when Carey and I first got married and moved downstate, my mom said that she was sad that she wouldn't see me as often and when Carey and I had children, that her grandchildren wouldn't see her often and wouldn't know who she is. While the first part of that statement is true - I don't see my mom as much as I'd like - the second part of that statement couldn't be more wrong. I have two little children whose eyes light up at the mention of Grandma Jadwiga. I have a chatty little girl who always wants to talk to Grandma first whenever she calls (while Zach is content to sit, smile, drool, and make the occasional adorable baby noise when big sissy is done). I have a little girl who prays for her Grandma every night before bed because we all love her so much.

So, Happy Birthday, Grandma Jadwiga. I know that this year's birthday will probably be difficult, but I hope that, wherever you are today, you'll feel the love that is coming your way from your daughters and their families, because we all think that you're pretty amazing. We love you!
