I have to admit that the dribble of drool on that little chin only makes this photo cuter... February 23, 2012 |
This handsome little man is 6 months old. (Technically, he’s
about 6 and a half months old, but we just had his well-child visit last Monday…) The doctor was able to confirm what I already
knew – really, what my arms and back have been telling me for a while now. Our
little Zachary is not so little anymore. The little man weighed in at 19
pounds, 2.5 ounces (75th – 90th percentile) and measured
at 28 inches tall (85th – 90th percentile). Just to give
you an idea of how big that is: Abby weighed 22 pounds, 11 ounces and was 30
inches tall on her first birthday. Yeah, he’s that big.
This month has brought many wonderful changes and
challenges, two of which (cloth diapering and making my own baby food) I’ll go
into in greater detail in separate posts. But this month saw Zach come down
with another cold, which the doctor watched carefully to ensure it did not turn
into a repeat of his January RSV infection. (Thankfully, it did not worsen.)
This month saw us dealing with some sleep issues, both occasional night wakings
and nap time struggles. Carey and I are simply doing our best to be consistent
and hoping that consistency is the key to getting the little man onto a
schedule.
While he has been rolling for a while now, Zach is now to
the point where we cannot put him down without him rolling. Just recently, he
has discovered that he can roll back to belly to back to belly, so we have to
keep the floors clear. Zach is also on the cusp of sitting up on his own, but
those little feet end up looking so delicious that he bends down to nibble on
them.
While Zach's first two teeth made an appearance at 4.5 months, we haven't had any other teeth pop in since then. Every morning, when I go to get Zachary out of his crib, I ask him if we have any new teeth. He always smiles, and then I respond: "Nope! Still Zachy two-teeth!"
Zachary and I have been attending Tot Music on Saturday mornings, while Carey takes Abby to her swim lesson. He seems to enjoy the music (he loves it when Abby and I sing to him at home), but the timing of the class is a bit tough. It's at 10:30 am, which is his usual nap time. He handles the schedule change fairly well, though, and we usually get a nap in the car on the way home.
So, six months of sharing his smile, warming our lives with
his laughter. Zachary- mommy, daddy and Abby love you, our sweet little man.
God bless you!
