Beauty and the Beast

Can I just begin this post by saying how much I enjoy the public library? Not only do Carey and I make constant use of the inter-library loan system, but the children's section at our library is super, with awesome, helpful children's librarians, and they post such great information. Carey and I have both found out about some great local events thanks to flyers from the library.

During a recent trip to the library, Carey found a flyer for Children's BayWay, the children's theatre portion of the BroadHollow Theatre Company here on Long Island. They put on musicals for kids, and all seats are only $10! So that would be great in itself, right? It gets better. Their current production is Beauty and the Beast, one of Abby's favorite movies! Carey surprised Abby with tickets, and the two of them caught the show on Saturday afternoon.

While Abby was super excited to go, she did have a bit of a rough time once the show got started. I think the lights, loud sounds, and the fact that they were close to the stage freaked her our a bit. Carey took her out to the vestibule and the two of them enjoyed the first act from the back of the theatre. He was able to bribe convince Abby to watch the second act from their seats, and she seemed to really like it.

However, the highlight of the show came afterwards, when Abby was actually able to meet Belle! Belle is definitely Abby's favorite princess, due in no small part to the fact that her dress is one of Abby's favorite colors - yellow.

So, while it was a bit rough in the beginning, Abby had a great time and told Zachary and me all about it when she got home. We are once again grateful for a public library that offers such great information and services. But even more so, I am thankful to be married to such a wonderful man, who knew how happy our little girl would be seeing her favorite princess and making it such a special Daddy-Daughter Day!
