Grateful and Humbled

Yesterday, I was troubled. Worried. Afraid of receiving bad news.

Carey met me at the doctor's office. Thankfully, Abby was with us as well. I was reading books and singing songs and watching two people in my life who make me so incredibly happy. The doctor came in and asked me how I was doing. When I told him how worried I was, he told me to lay back so he could "put me out of my misery." I laid back, he put the Doppler Heart Monitor (similar to this one) against my stomach, and immediately, that sweet, sweet sound filled the air. The heartbeat of our little baby. A heartbeat, which the doctor described as "steady and strong." Music to my ears.

The appointment continued with the doctor telling me that my uterus was of a good size for how far along I am and is in a good position, my recent first trimester ultrascreen test came back with normal results, and I had gained one pound since my last appointment. Needless to say, I walked out of that office with a smile on my face and had a wonderful night's sleep.

I cannot thank everyone enough for their prayers. We were blessed by your thoughts, prayers, and kind telephone calls, and Carey and I both are so incredibly grateful to be surrounded by people who not only put up with my craziness, but support us through it all. We are blessed by you, and I know that Baby Ng is feeling those blessings already. The love that surrounds this child is truly amazing!

And, because I haven't posted one in a while, here's a recent photo of the baby belly. This was taken last week, just shy of 16 weeks. Hopefully, "big belly" will continue to mean "healthy baby"!
