Two years ago, on November 16, 2008, our little girl, my beautiful Abigail, was baptized. It was a blessed day that I am able to remember with smiles and thanksgiving.
However, it is also a day that serves as a constant reminder of the seriousness of the task with which Carey and I have been entrusted. The Lord has given us a beautiful little girl and charged us with her training. We are to teach her love and kindness, obedience and respect. This is no small task, despite the small stature of the little blessing in question. Abigail is in the stage right now where she repeats everything that we say, so we are constantly reminded that our words have a huge effect, and the tone of voice that we use often says more than the words that escape our lips.
So today, on the two-year anniversary of Abigail's baptism, we reconfirm our commitment to our daughter. As we pray every night, may we always strive to raise Abigail to be someone who loves the Lord first and foremost, and who witnesses that love in everything that she does.
