"Not My Child!" Monday

That's right, readers! The fun of "Not Me" Monday has expanded! Welcome to Not My Child Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what her children and everyone else's children have not been doing this week.

Oh, there are days when you just can't help but laugh. I had a bunch of those last week.

Feeling very proud of myself, I decided to give Abigail a bath on Tuesday night. Carey was going to be home from work late, so I decided to do bath time solo, something that I've done on multiple occasions. Well, in the middle of this bath, Abigail decided to stand up - not unusual since we've started putting her baby tub in the big bathtub to contain her joyful splashing. Little did I know that her desire to stand up and the cute little smile on her face were due to the fact that she had to pee. Like, right away. So she decided to do it in the bathtub. Balancing my half-clean daughter on my hip, I emptied the dirty bathwater, all the while trying to keep my wriggling daughter from grabbing and sucking on a now very-dirty crab bath toy. Would my daughter behave like this? Of course not!!

Every night last week, when Carey or I went to daycare to pick up Abby, she was playing with a Sassy Circle Rattle. She has one at home, which she loves, and she is constantly playing with the circle rattle at daycare. Well, she is now guilty of "Grand Theft Rattle." Every day last week, Abby had a vice-like grip on the rattle and would not let go. To avoid a screaming fit of epic proportions, we were forced to "borrow" the rattle until we got home, then switch out daycare's rattle with Abby's rattle, returning the daycare rattle the next day. (We have finally learned to pack Abby's rattle in her diaper bag so we can do a swap before even leaving daycare.) Funny enough, the ladies all saw us leaving, Abby in possession of Tutor Time's rattle, and they don't even say anything anymore.... Would my daughter behave like this? Of course not!!

On Saturday, Carey was feeding Abby. She was having a Gerber Stage 3 Turkey and Vegetables dinner. Apparently, she was not a fan. Our doctor told us that oftentimes, babies dislike the texture of a new food, so parents have to be persistent when introducing new things. Well, this meal had actual chucks of carrots and potatoes, and Abby is still getting used to "chunks." The battle of wills had begun. Carey kept spooning in the food, and Abby would eat half a mouthful and let the other half dribble out on her chin. Finally, Abby decided that she'd had enough and spit an entire mouthful of food onto Carey. And, game, set, match to Abigail. Would my daughter behave like this? Of course not!!

So, what have your kids not been doing this week???

What a great post. Mothering is not for sissies is it? It is a tough gig. Thanks for sharing.

Both my boys are grown and have little boys of their own! How fun is that. I blog to encourage MOMS in the fine art of Christian mothering. Mothering is an awesome and aggravating holy occupation.

I have just added my PODCASTS for my series on Philippians called Joy in the Journey.Check it out if you could use some huge doses of encouragement and personal illustrations along with some great Biblical truth.

On Sept. 17 I will be starting a new series on Ephesians called "High Stepping in High Places." We have live video feed and an archived file for the message as long as the PODCASTS.

We would love the chance to bless you as your raise your flock for the Lord. Check us out at www.jeanstockdale.com or http://jeanstockdale.typepad.com. Blessings.
