We're outta here!!

I'm scheduling this post for Thursday, but by the time it actually posts to the blog, Carey, Abby, and I will (hopefully) be upstate, enjoying some time with my mom, dad, stepmom, grammy, and other wonderful relatives. Since I hope to have some good stories and pictures from this trip, I thought I'd take the opportunity to update you on a few things that I've previously posted about. As MckMama wrote about on her blog, every once in a while, you need a "ketchup" post. (Like "catch up," get it???)

So, in "good news/bad news" format, let me update you to some of the goings-on at the Ng residence:

Good news: our pigeon is gone. Our front stoop is once again pigeon poop-free. Yay!
Bad news: our front stoop is still covered with stones and bricks that Carey placed there in an effort to get the pigeon to not like our stoop so much. I'd love it if those bricks and rocks just magically disappeared. (Hint, hint, dear husband...)

Good news: I planted our flower beds on Memorial Day, finally getting all those plants out of our family room downstairs.Bad news: I decided to plant my drought-resistant (read: they don't need lots of water) plants right before Long Island had one of it's wettest Junes ever. My poor little "we don't need no stinkin' water" plants have seen nothing but water for the past 30 days. (To give you an idea of how much rain we've gotten in June 2009: normal rainfall in NYC in June is approximately 3.31 inches, and we received in upwards of 10 inches of rain this June. Ugh.) So, while our lawn is loving the rain, my poor little plants are looking a bit droopy. Hopefully, they will dry out a bit in July and then spring back to life.

Good news: I have been using my beautiful new Kitchen Aid stand mixer, a very thoughtful gift from Abby and Carey for Mother's Day.Bad news: I mostly make baked goods with said stand mixer, and, being the conscientious baker that I am, I feel the need to taste test everything before allowing others to ingest it. Hence, the weight loss train that I was on has been derailed and I'm still trying to get it back on the tracks...

Good news: Abby is starting to sleep a bit better. The last two nights, I've gotten her down to bed by 7:45, and she's slept right through to the morning without any problems.
Bad news: We're getting Abby on a good schedule just in time to go upstate, which will totally mess up her schedule.

Good news: I no longer feel like I'm at the edge of a nervous breakdown.
Bad news: I'm still not over the things that I was working through. There are a lot of things that Carey and I need to sit down and discuss, and while we've scraped the surface, we still have a lot more discussing to do...

So, hopefully this post will catch you up on some of the recent happenings at Casa Ng. I hope that you all have a safe and fun Fourth of July!
