Carey and I always joke with each other that, now that we have Abby, we don't have to give presents to each other for holidays and occasions. (After all, once you've been given such a precious gift, what could else could you possibly want?!) So, it was under this assumption that I expected Valentine's Day to be a low-key affair, just some quality time with my hubby and my munchkin.
I got home on Friday to find a single rose waiting for me. :-) Saturday morning, Carey surprised me with a DVD box set that I've been wanting, and then we made a quick trip to Target to pick up some stuff for Abby.

When we got home, Carey told me that Bart was going to come over to help him move a rather large TV stand from the garage into the house. Carey said that he'd volunteered to send me and Abby over to Bart & Melissa's house so I could help Melissa watch the girls. (In addition to Gabriella and Sofia, Melissa was watching her three nieces.) Not wanting to leave one woman with five kids, I agreed and took Abby next door. About 30 minutes later, Carey called me and asked me to run back home; he said that he and Bart were having some trouble maneuvering the stand inside (which is completely plausible, because the thing is huge!), so he asked me to leave Abby with Melissa for two shakes and come back home to help them. I ran home only to find a candlelight dinner waiting for me.
Thinking back to our time in Hoboken, Carey had purchased some of my favorite foods, including lobster ravioli in vodka sauce and salmon cooked with lemon and butter. He cooked everything, with a little help from Bart. When I got home, Bart headed back to his house, and Carey and I had a nice, candlelight dinner while Bart and Melissa watched Abby.
I am so blessed to have such a thoughtful, wonderful husband. I don't know if I like how sneaky he is (hee, hee), but I was overwhelmed by the love he put into our first Valentine's Day as parents in our new home. I love you so much, Carey! :-)
(And thank you so much to Bart and Melissa! It was so nice to enjoy a quiet meal together knowing that Abby was is such good hands!)
