Don't yell at me...

...but Abby has decided that she will only nap on her belly.

She will sleep in her cradle swing at night, but if we put her in it during daylight hours, she wakes up right away and won't nap. So, I've started to put her in her bassinet on her belly, and she naps like a champ. Now, I know that "Back is Best." I've heard it from everyone, from the nurses at the hospital to Abby's pediatrician to her pajamas. (That's right, even Abby's pajamas have the phrase "Back is Best" embroidered on them!)

So, I put my little munchkin on her belly and keep her bassinet right next to me while I work. I'm constantly checking Abby's breathing, and luckily for me, my little girl snores like her daddy, so it's not too difficult to hear that she's okay. :-) She's much better rested and her reflux doesn't bother her so much in this position.

Like most parts of motherhood, I've discovered that there is the recommended course of action, and then there is the course of action that works for your individual baby. Abby has proved over the last week that, for her daytime naps, "Belly is Better"!

Ok, so I have to tell you.. with my first child we did EVERYTHING by the book.. EVERYTHING. We had aso many sleepless nights because our pediatrician INSISTED on BACK to sleep. (We even had to sign this paper in the hospital saying that we understood that we were not to put Hannah to rest on her tummy). Ended up that we STILL have bags under our eyes from the 'newborn' days, AND our precious little Hannah has a 'D' shaped head. She didn't like Tummy Time to play either... With babies #2, (and 3) we put them to bed on backs, but if they got fussy... we put them on their tummies and watch like a hawk... we have much more well rested babies because of it... and more sleep for mom and dad as well.

Abbie is BEAUTIFUL by the way.
