38 weeks... and FULL TERM!!

Well, we've done it. Somehow, the thing we've been waiting for since January has happened. Abigail is now FULL TERM!! It's hard to believe, when you see that first ultrasound where the baby looks like a little lima bean, that the little person inside of me is now full term and could be born at any time! I completely understand why everyone says that having a baby is a miracle. I truly feel like there is a little miracle inside of me right now. :-)

And, according to the nurse who saw us yesterday, it looks like our little miracle will be inside of me for a bit longer... Dr. Siegel is out of the office this week, so we saw his assistant Trish, who is a Registered Nurse. My blood pressure and weight were fine (I went up another 3.5 pounds!), and Abby looks good. She's still in the head-down position, and her heartbeat was nice and strong. Trish also performed an internal exam, and my cervix is 0% effaced. :-( That means that Abby is enjoying herself so much in there that she hasn't yet started to make her move to join us out here. I'm actually kinda glad. The more time Abigail spends inside, the more time she'll have to finish up her development and really prepare herself for her grand entrance. On a more selfish note, I love feeling Abby inside me, moving around and being my little fidget. (Plus, on an even more selfish note, I'm scheduled to work until this Friday, and I could really use the next few days to tie up some loose ends before my maternity leave begins.) So, while I would have welcomed the news that Abigail had begun the process, I think Carey and I were both relieved to hear that we'll have a few more days to finish up some last minute Abigail-prep!

On a family-related note, my Grammy Kowalczyk is going into the hospital for surgery today, and I would greatly appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers. This is the second time that she has been admitted for this type of surgery, and I am praying that the doctors will be successful this time around.
